• A Voice Tucked Away

    Sarah Dickenson Snyder

    Winter 2018

Not far from me in the kitchen
    in the tiny bathroom downstairs

    wallpapered in Shakespearean lines
that have only added to the good

    bones of the house,
    my four-year-old son

sits on the toilet, calling through
    the flimsy accordion door,

    “Mama, what is hath?”
    “Mama, what is troth?”

Sarah Dickenson Snyder has published two poetry collections, The Human Contract and Notes from a Nomad. Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in the Comstock Review, Damfino Press, the Main Street Rag, Chautauqua, RHINO, Front Porch, and Whale Road Review.
